Scientometric Study of Scientific Production of the Journal of Accounting and Auditing Review

Abstract

The purpose of this article is scientometrics study of scientific productions of the journal of accounting and auditing review of the University of Tehran, as the oldest scientific journal in the field of accounting knowledge in Iran from the beginning of publication (1992) to the end of 2018. This research is a scientometric study and has been done using quantitative content analysis method. The research data were also collected using a check list tool and statistically analyzed using Excel software. Research findings show that in the 563 articles published during these years, 1222 authors have contributed, of which 1,039 were men and 183 were women. At the same time, 8% of the articles were written by one author and 92% by the working group. Also, in terms of education level and scientific ranking, assistant professors with 41% and associate professors with 16% are in the top of the ranking list of authors. Among universities and educational institutions, the University of Tehran is ranked first with 114 articles and Shiraz university is ranked second with 34 articles. In terms of subject orientation, 72% of the published works are in the field of financial accounting, and auditing with 13% is in the next rank. Also, from total of 12698 references cited in the articles, 74% were in English and 26% in Persian.
