Abstract
Purpose: The research aims to identify factors affecting the sustainability performance of companies in Iran using confirmatory factor analysis.
Research Method: The study identifies 12 potential structures impacting sustainability performance, classified into internal and external factors, through theoretical and background research. Data was collected via a questionnaire distributed to 400 management and accounting experts, validated by expert opinions, and confirmed reliable through Cronbach's alpha. Statistical analysis was conducted using Amos 24 software and confirmatory factor analysis.
Research Findings: Results indicate that internal organizational factors significantly and positively impact sustainability performance with a path coefficient of 0.893. Key internal factors include the company's life cycle, working capital management, investment efficiency, and research and development intensity, all with factor loadings greater than 0.4. External organizational factors also positively impact sustainability performance with a path coefficient of 0.849. Significant external factors include risk management and business strategy, with factor loadings greater than 0.4.
Conclusion, Originality, and Contribution to Knowledge: The study emphasizes the importance of quantitative and qualitative economic metrics in evaluating corporate sustainability performance, possibly due to traditional financial reporting practices or the lack of specific sustainability reporting guidelines in Iran. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research provides a comprehensive analysis of the factors influencing corporate sustainability in Iranian firms, offering new insights valuable to academic researchers.
